What the WordPress connector covers
- The "WordPress" connector in Connectors only covers sites hosted on WordPress.com.
- It does not work with a self-hosted WordPress (a site installed with a hosting provider or on your own server). For that case, see "Connect a self-hosted WordPress".
- Once connected, the assistant can create and edit posts and pages, manage media, moderate comments, and manage categories, tags, users and site settings.
Connect a WordPress.com site
- An organization admin enables the WordPress connector in Settings → Connectors. No credentials to enter: Delos provides the app.
- Each member clicks Connect, signs in with their WordPress.com account and authorizes the "Delos" app.
- Then just ask the assistant, for example: "list my latest WordPress posts".
Connect a self-hosted WordPress (custom MCP server)
Prerequisites
- A plugin that exposes an MCP server on the site, for example WordPress's official MCP Adapter plugin, or Elementor's built-in MCP (URL like https://your-site.com/wp-json/elementor/mcp/). Use the MCP URL given by the installed plugin.
Steps
- In WordPress, create an application password: Users → Profile → Application Passwords. Use an account with the required permissions, ideally a dedicated one.
- Base64-encode "username:application_password" on your own computer, without any online tool. On Mac or Linux:
echo -n 'username:password' | base64 - In Delos, go to Settings → Connectors and add a custom MCP server: URL = the site's MCP URL; Authentication = API key; Header name =
Authorization; Value =Basicfollowed by a space then the base64 result.
Troubleshooting
- 401 or "unauthorized" error on a self-hosted site: the username and password were pasted in plain text. You need "Basic" followed by the base64-encoded version.
- The WordPress connector can't find the site: the site is self-hosted, use the self-hosted section.
- No more "Configure credentials automatically" button: this is expected, Delos now provides the app for WordPress.com.
