Use Delos as a Word add-in to interact with your documents using natural language.
Prerequisites
A Delos account with credits.
Enabling the add-in
From the Microsoft Marketplace, search for Delos in Word
Click Get it now.
You'll then find the add-in in Word, under Insert > Add-ins. Click on it to make it appear, and connect your Delos account to start using it.
What you can do with the add-in
The Delos for Word add-in lets you interact with your Word document in natural language. Here are a few examples of features available with the add-in:
- Reading & navigation — read the full document content, read the current selection, explore the structure (headings, outline, nearby paragraphs)
- Content insertion — insert text, formatted paragraphs, headings (levels 1–6), bulleted or numbered lists, tables, images (base64), page breaks
- Rich HTML insertion — insert complex HTML content (bold, italic, links, nested lists, tables) in a single call — the most powerful tool for generating structured content
- Find & replace — find and replace text throughout the document, with an optional case-sensitivity setting
- Fine-grained formatting — apply Word styles (Heading1, Title, Quote, Normal…), format a paragraph by index or the current selection (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, color, font size, font family, highlighting)
- Table management — create tables from a 2D array, add rows, merge cells
- Hierarchical lists — create lists and adjust the indentation level of items (levels 0–8)
- Headers & footers — read and set headers/footers per section
- Comments — insert comments on any paragraph by index (no selection required) or on the current selection
- Bookmarks — create named bookmarks and read their content to reference precise positions in the document
- Metadata — read and edit document properties (title, author, subject, keywords, creation date, last author…)
- Footnotes — read all footnotes in the document along with their content
- Targeted deletion — delete a paragraph by index, or bulk-delete all paragraphs matching a pattern (starts_with, contains, equals)
- Highlighting — highlight occurrences of text in color (yellow, green, cyan, magenta, red, blue)
- Connection to Delos documents — the agent can search the Docs library, then read and integrate the content of PDF, Word, and CSV files directly from the Word chat
- File upload — PDF, Word, CSV directly in the chat
- Understanding your document — the agent automatically analyzes your document (structure, headings, nearby paragraphs, current selection) and tailors its responses to your context
- Native audit trail — all your interactions are logged for complete traceability
Additional features
In the add-in header, you have access to several options:
Choose the Delos account / organization to connect to
Lets you find the documents available in Docs under your Personal or Professional account
Return to your previous conversations
A conversation history is available to keep track of all your exchanges with the assistant
On the Settings page, several options are available:
- Instructions: give context and additional guidance to your agent (e.g. always write headings in bold; use a formal tone and address the reader formally)
- Session logging: when enabled, your agent maintains a log sheet in its memory, recording the actions it performs each time it modifies elements in your documents. It can also read this log at the start of each conversation to have the context of the changes made to the document
- Change the add-in's language
Create a new conversation
When you create a new conversation, the agent's context resets to zero.
